The Testomato WordPress plugin

External uptime, content and SSL monitoring for WordPress and WooCommerce — set up with your email address, watched from outside your server, reported right in your dashboard.

A plugin cannot tell you your site is down. Something outside it has to.

Testomato Monitoring bridges the two.

The plugin lives in your WordPress admin, but the checks run on Testomato's servers around the world. When PHP dies, the database disappears or the host goes dark, the alert still arrives — because nothing on your server had to be alive to send it.

Connect in 30 seconds, with an email address

Install the plugin, open Settings → Testomato Monitoring, confirm the email address WordPress already knows, and click Connect. You paste a one-time code from your inbox and you are done.

There is no account to create first, no API token to copy and no password to store. The plugin creates your Testomato account and a project for this site, then reads your homepage to suggest the pages worth watching.

The connect flow creates a new Testomato account, so use an email address that is not registered with us yet. Already a customer? Add the site as a project straight from your Testomato dashboard instead.

What the plugin sets up for you:

Status where you already log in

The dashboard widget answers the question you actually open wp-admin with: is everything fine right now?

A colour you can read at a glance — green, yellow or red, with how many checks are healthy.

7-day uptime — one bar per day, so a bad Tuesday night is still visible on Thursday.

24-hour response time — an interactive trend line with the average, drawn from real check results.

Charts are rendered by a copy of Chart.js bundled with the plugin. No CDN, no external scripts on your admin pages.

It does nothing to your front end

The plugin runs in wp-admin only — no scripts, no queries and no extra bytes on the pages your visitors and Googlebot see. Nothing is written outside the WordPress options table, and deleting the plugin removes every option and cached value it created.

WordPress plugin FAQ

Do I need a Testomato account before installing the plugin?
No. Clicking Connect creates one for you, with a free 14-day trial and no credit card. Sign-in is by one-time code sent to your email, so there is no password to manage. Note that the connect flow always creates a new account — if the email address is already registered with Testomato, use a different one, or add the site as a project from your existing dashboard.
Is the plugin free?
The plugin itself is free and GPL-licensed. It connects your site to Testomato, which is a paid service after the 14-day trial — see pricing for the plans.
Does it slow down my website?
No. The plugin only runs inside the WordPress admin — it adds no scripts, styles or database queries to your front-end pages. The checks themselves run on Testomato's servers, not yours.
What data does the plugin send to Testomato?
The email address you enter, the administrator's name from your WordPress profile (falling back to the site name), and the site's home URL. Nothing else. No posts, users, comments or media are ever transmitted. Testomato then crawls only the public pages of your site from its own infrastructure.
Does it work with WooCommerce?
Yes. When WooCommerce is active, the cart and checkout URLs are added to the monitored set automatically, alongside the homepage and the key pages detected from your site.
Can I monitor more than the pages the plugin picked?
Yes. The plugin only seeds an initial project. Open the Testomato dashboard from the plugin page and add any URL, define the text that must appear on it, set response-time thresholds and choose where alerts go.
How do I disconnect the site?
Settings → Testomato Monitoring → Disconnect. That removes the saved tokens from this WordPress installation only; your project and its history remain in your Testomato account.
Where can I read the full documentation?
The complete guide — installation, the connect flow, the dashboard widget, troubleshooting and the exact data the plugin sends — lives in the WordPress plugin documentation. There is also a longer walkthrough of monitoring a WordPress site in our blog post.
